Interview with Volunteer Stephanie Pasero

  1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to join The Network as a volunteer?

Hi, my name is Stéphanie, I moved to Luxembourg in the course of 2024 after spending six years in The Netherlands. Having lived in several countries across Europe and beyond, I particularly enjoy the international environment here in Luxembourg, while also appreciating the opportunity to discover a country rooted in a strong cultural heritage and identity. I have worked in communications throughout my career, navigating between the private and public sectors. I am now responsible for the Communication Office of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, located in the inspiring Belval area.

I found myself inspired by the values shared by The Network, which are grounded in the aim of empowering women through personal and professional growth, fostering meaningful connections, embracing diversity, and upholding professionalism in all its actions.

2. What attracted you specifically to the Communications team and the work around the website?

I originally joined the Membership team, as there was a stronger need in this area. I enjoyed getting to know more about The Network’s members and the kind of requests or questions they might have, which was a very helpful first immersion in the association. I then switched to the Communication team, since this is my core expertise. There was a need to provide more support in Communications, and also on the website, which remains an active and useful communication platform for members to learn more about us, and for our partners to gain a better understanding of club events and sponsorship opportunities.

3. What do you enjoy most about contributing to The Network’s communications and storytelling?

I really like connecting the dots and ensuring coherence between the different communication channels. I believe that consistency is key to get your message across and reinforce your brand identity. I also enjoy the purpose of our Communications, and the message being conveyed. Because it has a tangible and meaningful impact on The Network community, it contributes to empowering women and helping them become better equipped to navigate current and future challenges, through community support and/or concrete workshops, panels, or other social events.

4. How has volunteering with The Network helped you personally or professionally? On a personal level, it gave me the opportunity to meet women outside my usual social circles. As a sociable person, I always enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their journeys and stories. It also gave me a sense of community that was welcoming and friendly, which I truly appreciated. From a professional perspective, it has encouraged personal reflection on the current challenges that women face at different stages of their life and careers, provided opportunities to share experiences with like-minded people, and, of course, helped expand both my professional and social networks.

5. Is there a project or moment during your time with The Network that you are particularly proud of? As a communication professional, I particularly enjoyed contributing to defining The Network’s mission, vision, and values, when the new presidency took over. Being part of this process was especially rewarding, as it gave me the opportunity to help shape The Network’s identity, while collaborating closely with others to express our shared values in a clear and authentic way. The vision, mission, and values are the strategic foundation of a brand that play a key role in shaping not only how an organisation presents itself externally, but also how its members relate to its purpose internally.

6. What would you say to someone who is thinking about volunteering with The Network? Every contribution is meaningful and can make a positive impact. Joining The Network is a special way to connect with people you might never otherwise have had the opportunity to collaborate with. It is also a great opportunity to be part of a diverse, motivated, and passionate team, making the experience truly fulfilling.
